Adsense is perfect…or is it?
The supposed charm of Adsense for the advertisers is that it does not target the visitors very aggressively. That might be true, but disadvantages or potential problems with Adsense should be considered as well.
Advertising in the search distracts the visitor from the content. Moreover, due to sheer popularity of Adsense, users have started to ignore most of the other advertisements which may serve the users’ purpose in a better way. Many blame Google for this.
For some, the per-click system of Adsense is a gold mine but for most it is not. Those experiencing meager traffic density do not even earn a dollar per day. Problem is not with Google, if the traffic is low, but with the publisher strategy. The aim is to bring such traffic to your site that is more willing to click on the adverts. This may be easier to achieve on programs having the publishers-share up to 75 percent.
Due to usage of Adsense by all and sundry, it sounds less than professional or sophisticated to most. Your site might lose its uniqueness this way. Adsense can solve this problem by attracting well known brands and restricting its usage by present lousy web sites.
Due to popularity of Adsense and its per-click revenue system, it is very much susceptible to click fraud. This is a pretty big head ache for Adsense advertisers as they see costs increase with decreasing revenues. Dwindling revenues is also in part due to faulty handling of ads by the publishers. Adsense need to clean up their polishers list very soon.
Adsense does not pay enough. Other programs are far more lucrative then Adsense. Another problem is that Adsense do not have a comprehensive data base of graphic ads. Both of these reasons coupled together translate into less value provided by Adsense to the advertisers and reduced aesthetic freedom to the publishers.
Some publishers complain about long run-times of ads on their pages, arguing that this reduces their per-click revenues as regular visitors keep seeing the same adverts. Solving this problem also seems tricky as if the ads were allowed to rotate then the per-click model would become less credible. But it should also be considered that his problem is not experience by all publishers.
All of the above mentioned problems require immediate if not prompt attention by Google if they are to remain the market leaders. With that being said, Google Adsense does have advantages over other programs as well. Adsense is, for instance, probably the most flexible program, allowing advertisers to cut down costs when revenues are running low.
Regardless of the all the problems and glitches of Adsense, it is the market leader with a colossal database of more than 140,000 Adwords.
